Importing Data

All of our sustainability programs require that farmers enroll acres that meet the requirements of the program they enrolled in. Once the farmer enrolls in a program, the next step is to share the field boundaries of the acres enrolled. Our goal is to make this step as easy as possible for the farmer. The easiest way for a farmer to share their field boundaries is to connect their FBN® account with John Deere Operations Center or Case IH’s AFS Connect. John Deere Operations Center and AFS Connect are cloud platforms that store their agronomic information from John Deere and Case IH machines. Farmers Business Network has an API integration with John Deere and CNH that connects this information with FBN.com. Here are instructions to connect a farmer's John Deere and CNH account with FBN.com: Sign in to your FBN account . Go to the Integrations page - found under the Analyze tab > My Data > Integrations . Click on the John Deere or CNH button. If you agree to add this integration, click on the Connect with John Deere/Connect with CNH button. If you are not currently signed into MyJohnDeere/AFS Connect, you will be required to sign in. Once signed in, you will see a page from MyJohnDeere/AFS Connect asking if you want to allow FBN access to your account data. Select Allow . If the request was successful and FBN was able to finish the integration, you will see your MyJohnDeere/AFS Connect account listed as an integration. If the request failed or there was an error, you will see the integrations page with an error message. Retry the process again if this happens or contact us for help. After the data in your account has finished syncing with FBN , you will see the Last Sync date. You are now integrated with your MyJohnDeere/AFS Connect account and all files uploaded to MyJohnDeere/AFS Connect will automatically upload to your FBN account for processing, cleaning and analyzing! If farmers do not have a MyJohnDeere/AFS Connect account, the next easiest way for them to share field boundaries is to use Fieldview. Fieldview is a cloud platform that stores farmer’s agronomic information from Fieldview devices. Farmers can easily share information from Fieldview using the below instructions: Log in to Field View on your computer. Click the Data tab on the top of the screen and then Data Manager in the drop down that appears. This screen will automatically populate a list of all your events by field. Check all the field events at once by clicking the small box at the very top of this list that is located right under “20/20 Field Map Data” in FieldView. Then on the right side of that same screen, click the Actions button and then the Share Fields button. Type in the email data@farmersbusinessnetwork.com and hit Send . Change selected year and repeat steps 3 - 6 for each of the years your system has data. If farmers do not have MyJohnDeere, AFS Connect, or Fieldview, they can share precision yield data from other software providers. Instructions can be found at https://www.fbn.com/community/faq/topic/importing-data If farmers do not have precision yield data, they should share their field boundaries via FSA Maps. Here are instructions for sharing FSA maps with FBN: Go to the FSA office and request maps for acres enrolled in the sustainability program Email or text images of the maps to data@farmersbusinessnetwork.com Once maps are uploaded, the next step is to schedule a survey with a Farmers Business Network Sustainability Program Lead (SPL). You will receive an email from your assigned SPL and can check their calendar availability to schedule a meeting.

Click File in the upper left and then select Projects . Click Backup/Restore Project(s) in the upper right corner of the pop up window. In the next window, select Back Up Project Data . A window will pop up that will allow you to select the project you want to back-up. Create a name for that backup folder. At the bottom where it says select location, make sure you save it to a place where you will be able to find it later, such as a USB or your desktop. A backup is now created and that file can be uploaded to your FBN® account in the Analyze tab > My Data > My Files section.

You can store as many files as you'd like! FBN® members receive unlimited data storage as part of their membership. When you store input invoices or precision data (planting, application or harvest) files in your FBN account, we get to work turning them into valuable insights for your farm. Once you upload a file to your FBN account, you'll also be able to access it wherever you are in the world. To upload files, log in to your account, click on  Analyze at the top of the page and then My Data in the left-hand menu. From here, click on + Add New to select and upload your file. Here are just a few other examples of types of information that members store in their FBN account: Historical/Current Precision Data Grain Sales/Contracts Scouting Notes Crop Consultant Reports Seed Tags Chemical/Seed Invoices RUP Licenses Livestock Invoices Feed Tags If you have multiple years of precision data still sitting on your monitor or you're like many farmers and think it's time to digitize your file cabinet, we can help.

We use three checks to ensure that the analyses and data you see in FBN® are accurate:  Farmers First ®  - Our members have a strong interest in ensuring that their own data is reported correctly so they can take advantage of the full range of insights that FBN offers. Farmers can edit yields or report events (like crop damage) in FBN in a matter of minutes in our post calibration and manual data reporting tools, and can verify changes they submit through scale tickets. Data Operations  -  FBN  has a dedicated data operations team that manages data processing and cleaning. In addition to their checks on every raw file that comes into the network, FBN also deploys machine learning algorithms that throw out erroneous data points and results that appear abnormal based on the results we’ve observed in similar geographies and growing conditions. Statistical Power  - In statistics, the “law of large numbers” is a concept that describes why a dataset grows in accuracy as it grows in size. With a dataset of tens of millions of acre-events that continues to grow every day, the FBN network is the most statistically valid way for a farmer to understand how a range of factors like planting population, growing conditions, hybrid selection and others correlate with yield. We know that some monitors will over-report yield and some will under-report yield. FBN analytics run on large, aggregated datasets where these errors tend to cancel themselves out, leading to less noise in the data. As a matter of principle, the FBN platform is transparent about how many acres of data comprise the yield averages in Seed Finder, and we also provide 95% confidence intervals for the key metrics in Seed Finder, Analyze My Operation and FBN Intelligence. Improving farm data collection practices and quality benefits all farmers. We are proud to be helping growers build a more data driven, connected and independent future.
